Rainforest Tea:

The Rainforest Tea is grown in the foothills of the Sinharaja Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the southwest region of Sri Lanka. Sinharaja is one of the few virgin rainforests left in the world. This eminently drinkable black tea has a sweet and mellow flavor. Delicious with milk and sugar.

Sepalika Tea:

Have a cup of Sepalika Tea in the afternoon and you’ll receive the benefits of aromatic Sepalika flowers and a quickly brewing black tea. Sepalika is a classic Ayurvedic ingredient said to promote tranquility and calmness.

This is a blend of Rainforest Tea and Cinnamon. Cinnamon is valued around the world for its distinctive flavor and health-enriching properties. The variety of cinnamon with the most coveted health properties, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum, is produced only in Sri Lanka.

Sapphire Oolong:

Specially grown in Sri Lanka in a small tea garden where the soil is laced with tiny sapphires – most are smaller than a pin-head while some have the qualities we value in small gemstones. More than 90 percent of Sri Lanka lies on primeval rock which was created by the transformation of ancient sediments under intense heat and pressure. These same processes also created the island’s legendary deposits of sapphires and other gemstones.

This Sapphire Oolong is a result of research and development by a team led by Malinga Herman Gunaratne, Proprietor of the Handunugoda Tea Estate. This treasured beverage has taken full advantage of the unique geology of Handunugoda and offers tea connoisseurs a light, delicate taste.

Naturally lower in caffeine, this green tea is mixed with aromatic Sepalika flowers which brew a delicious sweet-scented cup to savor. This Floral Green Tea provides all of the properties of Green Tea with the added benefit of the Sepalika flower.

During the 5th and 6th centuries, in the dynasties of Emperors Tsong and Tsang, the Chinese mandarins employed virgins to harvest white tea. Chinese tea masters understood that the oils and sweat on the hands of the tea pickers would affect the delicate leaves. The virgins cut the white tea with golden scissors, then caught the tender leaves in golden bowls and gave the tea as a tribute to the Emperor.

Handunugoda’s Tea Master, Malinga Herman Gunaratne realized that if he made the Virgin White Tea as these mandarins had centuries ago, it would be the most pure tea available anywhere in the world. Now, at Handungoda, white-gloved women, with small scissors and white bowls gently clip the most delicate part of the leaf that makes the pure white tea.

An analysis of our Virgin White Tea conducted by SGS Lanka, an international certification company, showed that the tea has a very high level (10.11%) of antioxidants and no insecticide or pesticide residue.
